Elm City, NC-Holding off the persistent challenge of Taylor Cook, Kyle Strickler led all 25 laps en route to a $1500 win at County Line Raceway in the Southeast Dirt Modified Series race.
14 Modifieds would sign in for the $1500 to win main event. In PFC Brakes pole qualifying Taylor Cook would continue his qualifying domination earning his 5th pole in 6 races with a 15.710 second lap. Kyle Strickler would qualify 2nd quick at 15.787 followed by Chris Arnold, Billy Workman Jr and Austin Holcombe.
In Prime Electrical Solutions heat race 1 Taylor Cook would battle with Chris Arnold early on before Cook would take the lead and earn the win over Arnold and Greg Brown.
In Westview Lanes heat race 2 Kyle Strickler would vault to the lead on the opening lap and never look back en route to a win over Billy Workman Jr and Buck Stevens.
In the main event it would be Strickler and Arnold leading the field to the green by luck of the top 4 redraw. Cook and Workman would start 3rd and 4th respectively. Off the start Strickler would grab the lead but not without Cook pulling up his inside lap after lap trying to find a way to the lead.
Several early race cautions would force Strickler to defend his lead early as Cook continued to try to get to the inside for a pass but Strickler defended his position early on. As Strickler continued to lead action behind him heated up as Ryan Ayers was working his way from 10th place starting spot up to 4th. Brandon Murphy also made vast improvement after starting 14th Murphy was able to work his way up to 8th.
On the final restart with just 1 lap to go Strickler would hold off one final charge from Cook and earn his 2nd Southeast Dirt Modified Series win of 2017, and his series best 7th win all-time.
NEXT RACE-Saturday, May 13 at Clary’s Speedway in Hollister, NC for a $1,500 to win main event.
