Fayetteville, NC-Taylor Cook outlasted the field and the slew of caution flags that slowed the pace to earn his 2nd win of the 2017 season at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.
26 Modifieds would sign in for the $1500 to win main event. In PFC Brakes pole qualifying Cook would grab his 4th PFC Brakes pole award of the season in as many races.
In Prime Electrical Solutions heat race 1 Cook would pull away from Wayne Gray Jr and RJ Otto to take the win.
In Westview Lanes heat race 2 points leader Billy Workman Jr would hold off a hard charging David Taylor to earn the win.
In Draco Springs by SRI Performance heat Race 3 Andy Boahn would show his local prowess and take the checkered flag over Chris Arnold.
In Dickson Racing Shocks heat race 4 Eric Bentley dazzled en route to a victory. Bentley’s win would be short lived as his car experienced a mechanical problem after taking the checkered flag, effectively ending his night.
In the B-Main Kyle Strickler would right his bad luck from his heat race and grab the checkered flag.
In the feature it would be Boahn and Cook to lead the field to the green. Track conditions would cause issues early as caution after caution would slow the pace of the race to a crawl. On an early restart Cook would work his way around the outside of Boahn to grab the early lead. After a subsequent caution Boahn would spin trying to regain the lead and surrender his 2nd place position to Billy Workman Jr.
As the cautions added up series regulars were making their way toward the front. Kyle Strickler was charging from his 17th place starting spot all the way up to 3rd, Ryan Ayers was on the move from his 15th place starting spot getting all the way up to 4th. Carlos Jaramillo would also work to the front in his first SEDMS race of the season as he came from 13th up to 5th.
While the movers and shakers were moving up thru the field Cook was steadily maintaining his lead. A last lap caution would make Cook work extra for the win but Cook would once again pull away from the field and grab the checkered flag and his 4th Series win all-time.
